Apple picking!!

This weekend we went back to our favorite orchard and picked apples with Ellie's friend Genevieve. We came home with many many apples and we've been busy making pie, crisp and applesauce ever since.

Everyone ready to go??
Ready to start picking

Of course we had to eat freshly made donuts...

Phew! That was exhausting!

giggles and arts

Last night - at 2:30am - Sadie had a giggle fest. We have no idea what was so funny but every thing we did (including nothing) set her off into peals of laughter. She probaby laughed for a good half hour!!

And now she's really tired after all that...

I know, another pic of Sadie sleeping? But I had to take this one. Check out her cool shoes. Thanks to Tracy, Sadie has the hippest baby shoes on the block.

We went to an art festival today. Ellie made a pumpkin and a tree with fall leaves. And we saw lots of cool local art.

Fairyland is EVERYWHERE!

We are SO into dress-up these days. Here's a pic of Ellie at playgroup, with her friend Nicholas and his little sister Analise. Yes, those are fairy flowers sprouting out of Ellie's hair. The wings didn't make it this time, but they often do. (Ever tried strapping fairy wings into a car seat? It doesn't work.)

Aaahh - three year olds...

We have a great neighborhood for kids. In our short block there are fourteen kids that play together on a regular basis. Now that the weather is cool enough for us to survive the outdoors, our block turns into a social hangout every night. There are two other three year olds and they both have new babies, just like Ellie. Whenever one child is out playing all the others pester thier parents until they can be out too.

Today we were out swinging and sliding when our next door three year old, Riley showed up in a mermaid dress. She promptly disappeared back into the house and returned with an extra mermaid outfit for Ellie to wear.

Here they are swinging...

And hunting for mushrooms... Can you believe that mermaid dress??? GAH!

Tonight Ellie's friend Genevieve came over to play. Here they are working with playdoh while Sadie watches. (Some day, Sadie, some day!) Yes, Ellie was STILL wearing the mermaid dress - we finally peeled it off her at bedtime!

Last swim of the season?

Our pool will be closing soon for the season. *sob* We've had so much fun there this year. Ellie has gone from being afraid of the water to totally fearless. Here are some pics of our last swim.

The water is getting chillier every time!
See what I mean - totally fearless
Sadie is a little less impressed by the pool

Today Clemson's Geology Museum had a 10th anniversary birthday party, with lots of fun activities for kids. (Cake! Yum!) Ellie especially enjoyed singing "Happy Biiiiirthday, dear Museeeeum..."

I love rocks!
Check out Sadie's "Geology Rocks" onesie (thanks Deb!)

Sweet baby

Ellie is a fantastic big sister. Here she is reading to Sadie: (note the tights, it was in the mid-90s this day!)
And looking after Sadie:
The weather has been so perfect, we love hanging out at our neighborhood pool.
Ellie has become a good little swimmer. With no fear whatsoever!!
Here's Ellie with her friend Genevieve... and Sadie with her friend Nicholas!

Aunt Martha's visit

The beginning of fall is always a busy season, this one has been especially so. Wes has had a couple long weekends away, so for one of them Martha came to visit and keep us company.

Fruit Picking! Yum!

Recently we spent a day at a local orchard picking apples, grapes and pears. They were delicious!
Here Wes and Ellie are sampling the grapes.
Ellie loved the grapes!
So many apples. We're going to have to make another orchard trip soon. It looks like apple pie baking season!
