Fairyland!

Rock interest must run in families. Ellie comes home from school regularly with pebbles she has collected from the playground. Yesterday I found a huge rock in the washing machine after I did her clothes... I can't even imagine what pocket she managed to hide it in. Budding geologist? Maybe!

Here's something else Ellie and Wes like to do together:Dress up! Yep, those are wings on Wes' back.

Isn't she cute?

Sadie was getting in on the action - pretending to fly in her sleep.

Halloween etc.

Here she is, the little princess, ready to trick or treat
And here is our little giraffe, ready to snooze all evening
Trick-or-treat!
Ellie and her friend Genevieve enjoy giving out candy just about as much as they enjoy giving it. It seemed a little unclear at times if they understood that you don't actually trick-or-treat at your own house. They dipped into this candy bowl several times.
E's school had a Halloween party, complete with cookie decorating...
...and spooky stories read inside a tent
Not Halloween related but here's Sadie
and this is E trying on her new ballet gear - she loves it!

This week's news...

Here is what we've been up to this week:

Sadie hosted her first playdateEllie had her first ballet / tap dance class ...
...which consisted of mostly sitting around eating junk food,
since this week's class was a Halloween party.

And Sadie learned how to sit in her new toy!

October is so fun here!

October is such a great month here. At night it is the perfect temperature for sleeping, mornings are cool and crisp, and days are sunny and warm. Here are some photos from this week:

We have several cat beds around the house. They are called "bouncy seat", "glider rocker" and "dipie changing table." Here's another one, called "bassinette."

We went to a fall festival the other day where Fairy Ellie saw an entertaining bubble demonstration. Here she is practicing her bubbles...

In case you are wondering, no, Ellie rarely wears regular clothes at home. She loves dress up!

We've all been battling a never-ending cold. Ellie especially has been putting up with a nighttime cough. For her, though, it seems to be not-so-bad - it is a great excuse for a spoonful of honey in the middle of the night. She looks pretty happy with her honey here and this was taken at about 1am.

Some pics of Sadie playing with her ball...

Oooh, this ball is fun!
Oh hey! There are my toes again!

This is so funny!

Toes!!

Sadie has developed two new obsessions this week. 1. Staring at her sister and 2. Grabbing her own toes. Every single time I put her down, Sadie grabs her toes with a huge grin. She is thrilled with this new skill and will practice any chance she gets:

Apple picking!!

This weekend we went back to our favorite orchard and picked apples with Ellie's friend Genevieve. We came home with many many apples and we've been busy making pie, crisp and applesauce ever since.

Everyone ready to go??
Ready to start picking
I love apples

Yum!
Of course we had to eat freshly made donuts...

Phew! That was exhausting!

giggles and arts

Last night - at 2:30am - Sadie had a giggle fest. We have no idea what was so funny but every thing we did (including nothing) set her off into peals of laughter. She probaby laughed for a good half hour!!

And now she's really tired after all that...

I know, another pic of Sadie sleeping? But I had to take this one. Check out her cool shoes. Thanks to Tracy, Sadie has the hippest baby shoes on the block.

We went to an art festival today. Ellie made a pumpkin and a tree with fall leaves. And we saw lots of cool local art.
